M.S.
RAMAIAH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (MSRIT)
MSRIT Post, Bangalore - 560 054.
MSRIT was the first
institute established under GEF and was inaugurated in 1962. The first
degree course offered in MSRIT were Electrical Engineering and Mechanical
Engineering both of which were started in 1962. Anticipating the need
of the country in the rapidly industrializing scenario, the Governing
Council decided to introduce Civil Engineering in 1971 and Electronic
Engineering in 1975. These were followed by courses in Chemical Engineering
(1978), Industrial and Production Engineering (1979), Computer Science
Engineering (1984), Information Engineering and Science (1992), Instrumentation
and Electronics (1992) and Architecture (1992). Courses in Telecommunications
and Medical Electronics have been proposed.
Besides the above 4 year courses leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering,
the institute also offers postgraduate courses (M.E.) of 18 months duration
in Mechanical Engineering (manufacturing Engg.,) and Civil Engineering
(Structures) and plans are on the anvil to start postgraduate courses
in Software, Chemical and Electronics Engineering as well as Master's
programme in Computer Applications.

MSRIT
is situated in "Jnana Gangotri", the sprawling 80 acres campus of M.
S. R. Institutions and is 6 kms. North from the centre of Bangalore
city, the capital of Karnataka State. A majestic college building "Vidya
Soudha" in traditionl Dravidian architectural style houses all the departments,
laboratories, drawing rooms, class rooms, faculty chambers, administrative
offices, seminar hall, two auditoria each with a seating capacity of
more than 650, library, reading rooms, reference rooms, bank, post office
and canteen. A well laid out garden in front of the building provides
a balancing environment conducive to study. The campus is surrounded
by four famous research institutions - the universally reputed Indian
Institute of Science, the Raman Institute, National Institute of Advanced
Studies and Central Power Research Institute. Also close by, is the
office of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Their presence
is an inspiration to the young minds of MSRIT and always act as a reminder
of what dedication and commitment to work and study can achieve. Engineering
which is both a science and an art requires imaginative, technological
manangement and business skills to create systems, devices, machines
and structures. The challenge is to achieve quality at an acceptable
cost and to maintain or enhance the environment. As a career, engineering
is stimulating to pursue and can provide personal satisfaction in both
the national and international environments.
The
campus of the M.S.Ramaiah institution is adjacent to the Indian Institute
of Science and the National Institute of Advanced Studies .Two other
major institutions C.P.R.I and I.S.R.O. are within walking distance.
